More Information
What's the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat?
Acknowledgments are more common. A simplified answer is that Jurats have an added element of having to make a verbal oath of truthfulness in front of the notary.
What is a mobile notary? What is a notarization?
A notary in Nevada is a public officer, commissioned by the Secretary of State of Nevada to provide notarization services, and must be a person of integrity and pass a background check. I choose to have an annual background check for my work as a Notary Signing Agent, although the state requires it only every 4 years. It is illegal for a notary to provide legal advice or to prepare or complete documents for a signer.
A notarization is the act of completing a state-approved certificate that means the notary has identified the signer to be who they say they are. The notary does not verify or validate the accuracy of the contents of the document, only the signer.
